In August 2018, Huawei Nigeria and Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) jointly established the Huawei ICT Academy; in 2022, ABU became Nigeria's first Huawei ICT Academy Support Center. Courses cover AI, cloud, storage, big data, computing, networking, and security, and Huawei also provides online lab environments for AI and cloud.

Huawei-certified AI, cloud, and other courses are embedded in Nigeria's university talent-development system. ABU serves as a regional support center training teachers in Nigeria and neighboring African countries, creating an ongoing local skills ecosystem.

Since 2022, 20+ Train-the-Trainer sessions have been held, training 300+ instructors and certifying 80+ instructors. In 2024, ABU became an Advanced IASC, linked to 90 certified ICT Academies, 27 IASC-certified instructors, and 100 HCAIs. The value of the cooperation has not been disclosed.
